Perfect!
Lo and behold - had those two 1/4" stainless clips in the store room. Bought em years ago for a deer skinning pole and didn't use them. Figured one day they would get used
Only recommendation I can add to that is to smoothen the barbs down if you can so they don't cut your line.
Pencil points will work best, but simply filing the sharpness off will be sufficient.
Never thought of a "mini" gaff! What is the dimensions and weight of the gaff?

During my recent pier fishing trip my drop net got several tears in it from spanish. Anyone got advice on how to repair the net? I also need to reduce the size of the holes in the net to prevent slender fish like spanish from slipping out of the net. Lost a couple of pretty nice fish because they slipped thru the net, so I decided to take my chances of just reeling them up to the pier. Bad decision, wound up stripping the gears in my reel. :violent

best thing is....... NEVER use your net for toothy critters!!!! I don't anymore, but will use this for them BIG spanish ...when the bite is ON this can be worn on your side (belt) and gaff the fish yourself :yippee:

I had my net re-netted at Bronson’s in Foley and they dipped it. I haven’t had a Spanish bite thru it yet.
I made a small gaff a couple years ago, kinda ugly but it works good.
Just remember before you stick a Spanish for somebody, there are folks who would prefer not to poke holes in a perfectly good fish.

I saw some aligator gaffs online which might work. They are 12/0 weighted trebles. Would love to actually see one before ordering though. Guess I could call and ask Willie on Swamp People. Does John have any at J&M?
