Just wanted to send out a "GET WELL SOON" message to ChileRenello and all the other unfortunates who have been afflicted with this season's flu misery.
Everyone who comes to my hunting camp has to be quarantined, and if I have to go get groceries, I'm wearing a face mask and carrying a bottle of Purell. GET AWAY FROM ME!!!
Strangely, I seem to be getting a certain amount of applause for wearing the face mask. -?-

I've gone from Flu to secondary Pneumonia, gonna be at least another week before I'm up for anything more than walking to the mailbox.
Hitting many very hard that have been affected....hope you get to feeling better soon....being sick isn't fun at all

Did you get a flu shot this year? I hear its not nearly as effective as years past.
I've gotten one every year since getting full blown flu back in Nov. 2003, worst I ever felt, out of work for 2 weeks.
It is also wise to take a zinc supplement daily during cold and flu season and to keep your vitamin D levels up by getting all the sun you can in the winter.
Don't forget to eat citrus fruit.
Even if this does not prevent getting the flu it will help your body fight it off.
My 11 yr old daughter has been down with the flu and MONO since going back to school after Christmas break (today will be her 3rd day back at school since Jan 3). Her pediatrician told us that probably 60% of the kids that got the flu shot this year in his office have been back with flu.Quote:

I got a flu shot a few days ago and the pharmacist said that even if you still get the flu, the shot will boost your immune system and reduce it's duration and severity. My wife had the flu the week before Christmas and I somehow avoided getting it. She's usually a tough cookie but missed almost a week of work. I think using Germ-Ex and constantly washing my hands helped a lot along with her sleeping on the couch. You almost have to consider everything in a public place to be a potential source of infection. The server who brings you a beverage, the menu, the table top, the extra napkins, a ketchup bottle, the credit card swiper, shopping cart handle, door handles, gasoline nozzle handles and beverage dispenser handles. Haywire has the right idea by avoiding the epidemic.
