Hand Gun Practise ?

Hi Everyone
My Father in-law bought a S&W 38, and has never even shot it.
I will be coming down in late February to visit for a week, is here some place close to Foley where we could go shoot ?.
Just some State land would be fine, or a Range, just looking for a safe place to shoot a few rounds.

Thanks is that open to the public ?, or does it require a yearly membership ?

Thanks for the suggestions. But my concern with a range is his lack of experience with a hand gun, He has shot shotguns and Rifles, but never a Pistol.
Most of the Ranges up by me, wouldn't allow him to shoot for that reason.
is there any public land where we could shoot ?

How do they expect him to learn if he can't use the range to shoot? It wouldnt have hurt them to send a RSO out to watch him at first. :( I hope you find a place to shoot with him while you are there.

barrel pointed down range always....some have safety video's that you have to watch before using the range by me ....I don't need to worry anymore and have a up to 50 yard range
