Yes she is. They have also closed all schools east of Columbia.
Say a prayer or 2 for the first responders and linemen.
The GFS Model has Florence stalling just off Moorehead City for 4 days. I sure hope that is wrong. Other models slow Flo, but keep her moving inland. This could be quite a disaster for those people.

It's a mess for buying and selling lumber out of that region. It is already wet and now maybe another 24" of water!!
WOW!
the forecast continues to evolve with the storm center now predicted to stall just offshore and drift SW with a decay in intensity (thank God ;-)
Check out the size of the tropical storm wind area... bigger than the state of South Carolina!

My daughter and her family live in Hilton Head. At first they thought they were going to be forced to evacuate. Then the storm looked like it was headed more toward the NC coast, so they didn't think they would have to. Now, it looks like it's headed back in the direction of the SC coast, so we are waiting to here if they are evacuating or not.

That pier is about to be destroyed....the "octi" is swaying several feet in both directions with each wave, and it hasn't even gotten bad yet.
All the piers on the NC coast were/are privately owned. All of them were/are made of wood except the Johnny Mercer pier in Wrightsville Beach.
The Frying Pan Shoals webcam is Amazing to watch, they all are but something about that one
Those wooden piers are like wooden rollercoasters; the theory is that the "give" absorbs the shock lika a ship at sea rides out the waves.
Perhaps so, but i don't ride wooden coasters either.
That pier they are showing is the first pier I ever fished on. The didn't have the gazebo back then.
Does anyone know if the Oceanana fishing pier made it through the storm. The gazebo on the front end was wobbling when the live video was being streamed.
The end of the pier is gone/collapsed and the rest of the pier had extensive damage but is still standing. https://www.thestate.com/news/article218481520.html
There's a short video of the present state of things.
The flag is for sale on EBay with 100% of proceeds going to the Red Cross. The owner of the tower donated the flag to the Red Cross for the auction. It is a 3 day auction, last count $631.00, started at 10pm EST tonight. Frying Pan tower is a neat place, owner bought it at a government for $85k a few years ago, now a B&B.
BACK TO THE flag, bid high fellas, a good cause.
