Lifetime Warranty On Scopes????
Im thinking about buying a scope, not even sure what Im going to get but from what I see most offer lifetime warranties. Not knowing the details on the warranty, Id assume it covers the scopes defects or failures and stuff of that nature. Anyone one have any experience with using a warranty on a scope. Hassle? Turn around? Fees? Coverages?
Just curious about any experiences.
THANKS,
PNG
Re: Lifetime Warranty On Scopes????
I have several 'Vortex Optics', http://www.vortexoptics.com/ , scopes and red dot sights.
Their cost vs quality is great, their product's quality is on par with others costing 1/4-1/3 as much more.
And their VIP Warranty is in my opinion the best in the industry.
I had reason to use it just once and was very impressed, not only by the warranty but by the top notch customer service I received.
I can also recommend SWFA, http://swfa.com/Riflescopes-C1443.aspx , for buying optics online.
Be sure to check their Sample List for discounted items, e.g. display models and etc, http://www.samplelist.com/ViewProducts.aspx

Re: Lifetime Warranty On Scopes????
I am a leupold fan myself. I have a vxIII 6.5x20x50 on my bench rest gun and wouldn't trade it for anything lesser. The quality of the glass is far superior to your mid price range scopes and this really counts when low light situations come into play. Also if you plan on shooting long range with a heavy recoiling rifle I wouldn't go the cheap route either.
Re: Lifetime Warranty On Scopes????
I am also a Leupold fan. I have owned several over the years and only had to use the warranty once. No hassle at all, just paid to ship it to them and they repaired it and shipped it back in about two weeks. IMHO most bang for your bucks!
Re: Lifetime Warranty On Scopes????
I've had warranty work done on a Leupold scope and Nikon binoculars. There was no problem with the work or the service, but the turnaround time left something to be desired with both companies---of course, I wanted the work done the next day. Nikon has to go to CA.
Re: Lifetime Warranty On Scopes????
I bought a rifle with a Bushnell banner scope on it...not high dollar by any means. The zoom feature was messed up on it, so I emailed them. No problem, even though the scope wasn't bought new by me. I sent it too them and a few weeks later I got a brand new scope, I think there was a $10 fee plus my shipping, which means I paid shipping both ways.
Re: Lifetime Warranty On Scopes????
I love these companies that make you pay to ship their warranty work to them.
Vortex emails a printable shipping label, stick it on a box and send it off, no shipping charges incurred.
My turn around on a first generation StrikeFire RDS went out and five business days later a new second generation arrived.
I have some other optics, Burris, Bushnell and Millet.
The only other CS and warranty I've had the displeasure of experiencing was Bushnell, they sucked.
Re: Lifetime Warranty On Scopes????
How much are you looking to spend?
Several years ago I bit the bullet and laid out $900 on a Meopta MeoStar 3-12 X 56 for my 7 mm Rem Mag. A Czech scope company which makes some of the glass for Zeiss . Swarovski quality for half the price. The optics are incredible. Allows you to shoot way later/earlier than you probably should.
I was at the range (here on Ft Rucker) Saturday afternoon and was able to read the numbers on 3'x3' targets right at 1000m away. Mine has the Z-Plex reticle
Has a lifetime, transferable warranty.

Re: Lifetime Warranty On Scopes????
Im leaning either towards a Leupold or the Redfield Revolution. We used Leupolds on our sniper rifles in the military, needless to say they took a beating and we never had any problems with them. Ive heard pretty good reviews on the Redfields. I know the old ones were great.

Re: Lifetime Warranty On Scopes????
A new VX III 3.5-10 x 50 is pushing 6 bills by the time you add tax. Redfield is now owned by Leupold. A Revolution 3-9 x 50 is about $250
Re: Lifetime Warranty On Scopes????
another leupold fan. a buddy had a 1950's model leupold that lost it's seal. he sent it to leupold and they replaced it with a brand new scope.
Re: Lifetime Warranty On Scopes????
I bought one of the new Redfields when they first came out. I think I got the 3 by 12 zoom with the circle around the crosshair and the extra mark below that for long range shots. It's a great scope. I thought Leupold is a USA made product, and Redfield would be too, but I just got a Redfield binocular for Christmas (great, btw) but was surprised to see a "made in China" sticker on the bottom. Maybe they are farming out some of their products.

You will pay for what you get. I have always loved nikon and leupold!
