American havester
the best I've found so far, heat control , easy rack cleanup when one rack is done they all are done
They have done a bunch of jerky too , always looking for them at garage sales
Thanks ironman, that was the direction I was heading.
Second on the Nesco American Harvester. I’ve had one (the same one) for twenty years. I don’t do jerky, but I do dry garden tomatoes every year. Most years I do about a five gallon bucket,...and that’s AFTER drying. That’s a LOT of tomatoes on the hoof. It gets a little funky after a few rounds. I just take it apart and clean it. I mean take apart the dryer part which you’re not exactly supposed to. You’ll see it’s a pretty simple machine. A dial type “thermostat” which is just a set off contact points regulated by the wheel dial. And a heat strip and fan. That’’s it. And the previous comment is right,...when one rack is done, they’re all done. I’ve heard you can add racks beyond the four they give you but I’ve not tried that.
I have several Mr. Coffee drier and always had to rotate the racks and even flip the meat to get dried right , plus the racks were harder for clean up with a brush those have been retired for years now....one thing ill do is put the plastic piece below the racks on the bottom to catch drippings .....works well
Thanks for the information Steve! Appreciate it.
