No, they have a hard time keeping up when it is below 32 for an extended amount of time. Using our fireplace. Might go fishing later on today. If so it will be the first for me since Sunday.
Heat - shmeat!
We haven't run the heater since moving to Spanish Fort two weeks ago.
Thermometer on the back porch shows 13 degrees outside.
Thermostat inside says a dry, balmy 58.
Not to bad, but we will be glad when the technician gets here to clean the dust out before we use the heater ;-)
Yep it is cold and the heat pump works fine if you are well insulated. Besides it is going to be in the 60's and 70's for a while after this!
#r, I would light a fire under that technician's butt and get him on the job!
Times like these I am glad to have natural gas central heating. If it's a little cold in the house kick it up a couple degrees and about five minutes later feel like a chicken roasting in an oven. Love it. Doesn't cost that much to run each month either.
58 makes me shiver, I wake up at the cabin when it gets to 63 inside....time to make another fire....to cheap to run the furnace and even if I did , I would wake up when I heard it come on and start another fire ....darn wood stove is small ,but will run you out if you put one to many pieces in itQuote:

outside temp, the other is inside....woke up to that.....I guess I overslept beyond the 63 ....sometimes I will sleep on the couch just so I don't have to mess with the stairs when it gets real cold and fires need made through out the night
We haven't seen above freezing weather (32) since about the 1st of Nov. but it is suppose to hit the high 30's this weekend. We have a ground source heat pump with a gas furnace back up (required for off peak heating). When we put the heat pump in '04 it would cost about a $1 a day to keep the house at 71 during a cold day. Electricity is more expensive now so it cost a little more to run at this time. The heat pump cost $30,000 to put in but I feel that I have reached the pay back already and it is still running very well. The heat pump also cools the house in the Summer at a very little cost.
