I remember one day Bob Cummins (at the other end of the block) had been tinkering with the "Whompin Wagon" and decided to take a test run down Hannon Avenue. Not a good idea...
My dad (a firefighter @ Brookley Field) had just worked off a busy shift with little sleep and had been taking a nap.
I still remember seeing him stomp up the street where he commenced to lecture Bob on the vices of "street cars". LOL

Couldn't really run the Wompin' Wagon hard on Hannon, too bumpy, the church parking lot was a good testing place until they put in the the speed bumps.
Sorry about all the noise, but not many good places to test a race car back then. Got run off of I-10 a few times when it was still under construction.
Tom, we really enjoyed hearing you two tonight at Post 44. We have heard you before at the Elks Club, but you were in particularly good voice tonight. That was as fine a rendition of "You Were...
