    Changes

    Hey guys and ladies,

Since 2012 when i first moved to the area i frequently visited the GSSP. Ive watched and interacted with everyone i came into contact with and always tried to learn from you guys. I want to say thank you to everyone for their help. The list would take several pages of names and i still would miss fishermen and women who helped me.

But recently i had a home situation blow up in my face and despite my medical condition I decided that I would not tolerate the behavior and i filed for divorce and moved to Cantonment. So that means i probably wont be able to physically visit the pier very often. I am much closer to the Pensacola pier and will try to get there as often as i am physically able. I will start posting in the outside the area forumn to give everyone a little more information about our cousins to the east.

    Good fishing and tight lines,

    Allen

Pensacola can be a tough pier, I have never had a problem but could see it (and have) happening...believe it's the bob sikes 1/2 fishing bridge might be better, but that has had it's problems too.....can drive out on it.....you won't find a friendlier pier then gulf shores...
    Good luck to you

I had a bad day or two on PCola pier during Cobia season, just rude and territorial folks, but other than that, it has been outweighed by numerous trips where everyone was fine. The box on the end, not an octi, is small. Space is tight. Rods will be on the rails. Stuff goes missing sometimes. Flipper is as much of a pain as sharks. Sight fishing in clear water is so much fun, though....wait for the wind to blow. Sorry about the blow up at home.

Allen - I've had epic days on Pensacola Pier. Pompano fishing around April Fool's Day can be exceptional, as is sheepshead fishing then. Regarding territorial regular resident fishermen on Pensacola Pier, it's a public use facility and you have as much right to be there as anyone else. I'd go a little bit higher on my line size for kings, to quickly bring them in and beat the resident dolphins for a race to the gaff. Cantonment is a nice little town and an easy ride down to the beach. Enjoy fishing there.

Thanks guys. I have fished Pcola pier too and used to know several of the rats there but when i moved to Robertsdale i quit going over there except for once a year or so. GSSP is the nicest pier ive fished on the gulf coast and ive hit several over the few years ive been here. Always looking and trying to learn something to help my pathetic abilities. Anyways, i will see ya again sometime.
