Pier open or closed
Does anyone have any information about the closing of the beaches having any effect on the pier being opened or not?

How can they enforce the closure of private beaches? I mean, if I happen to have beach front property (which i don't, but if I were so lucky...) And if I wanted to do some evening surf fishing- How are they able to enforce that one? I can understand discouraging a huge gathering of spring breakers right now, but blanket closures?
Here in middle america they're encouraging people to get outdoors and hunt and fish, promoting it as a form of social distancing. Personally I'm looking forward to turkey season. I sure hope no one tells me I'm not allowed to use my own property.Last edited by fordguy; 03-19-2020 at 09:15 PM.

For all you doubting Nancy's out there:
The parking lot at the pier is open. The pier is open. The only thing closed is the access walkways to the beach. Now, good fishing everyone!

Hello Everyone,
Would it be wrong for me to assume with 50 years in the construction industry (retired now) that we just might see the staging of equipment and materials somewhere in the vicinity of the pier as an indicator that something is going to happen. Of course I’m way up here in Kentucky. Maybe there is a mobilization in progress? I plan to come down the last of April and I hope to see all you great people out on the pier!Prospector
That is interesting, but surely an oversight? The ByWater-Beachside has a Facebook page @ https://www.facebook.com/ByWaterBeachside I asked them what the hours will be after Labor Day...
