    Does anyone run a dog

    ...in or around Orange Beach?
We're making our 8th trip at the end of March, and this time, we're thinking of bringing the newest member of our family, an 8-month old Springer Spaniel.
He needs some space to run at least once day, and I don't think the little patch of grass next to the condo unit will do. Are there areas in or near O.B. where dogs can run loose? I know that the beach is off-limits, even though that'd probably be ideal, but I can understand why.

Pirates Cove Marina ..... very friendly
Great place to let your dog run around with you, play with other dogs in the water and visit people on the pier or at the bar.
I have not had any problems with unruly dogs the three times I have been there.
You can have a drink, great burgers, they even have entertainment on some weekends.
They have water bowls out and a hose to wash off the salt water.
Beware - my dog is not used to salt water so he laps it up like fresh water - runs right through him.

Pirates Cove Marina looks like a great place to visit, but it's half an hour away from OB. Unfortunately, the beach we're staying on (near the pass) does not allow dogs, which I totally understand.
I wonder if there's anywhere closer to town where we can take him swimming? Salt water would do him good, especially this time of year.

I did find Waterfront Park on Google.

Is that the park right across the street from the Pier entrance where the zip lines used to be?
Would be nice to know if that is free to the public.

I checked it out, and it is open to the public.

If you want to be a scofflaw, with virtually zero chance of being caught, take your pup to the state owned public beach just east of Perdido Pass. In twenty-five years of taking beach photos there I was never checked by any authority, and if you go after 4:30 p.m., your chances are even lower. There were numerous instances That I tried to call the "law" on miscreants on the beach (damaging the dunes, pulling up sea oats, drunk, felony littering, etc.) and the State people told me to call the O.B.P.D. and the O.B. folks said that it was State property and that they didn't have jurisdiction.

Anyhow, if you take your dog to the beach there after 4:30 p.m. all the Staties have gone home to their fried chicken and mashed potatoes, and the Town Mounties don't come there except to catch speeders. God forbid that any of them have to get out of their cars and walk across the sand.

Since you are a money spending Visitor, they wouldn't give you a ticket and you could always tell them their sign wasn't big enough regarding pets on the beach. If that doesn't work, sic the dog on 'em--the out-of-shape donut eaters would probably have heart attacks trying to run away on the beach and there you are---no witnesses.
