The city of Gulf Shores is getting ready to rework their beachfront at the end of Hwy 59...

Perhaps this has been to reason for all of the procrastination .Getting the public used to not having this resource for their use .

They'll prob find a way to make that beach area off limits to fishing. The plans look pretty cool though.

Generally speaking 'Lifeguarded areas' are closed to fishing and surfing during "high usage" periods and times.
It kindof makes sense to stay away from swimming areas, but it seems dumb to allow swimmers to encroach around the pier.
At least charging to park at the pier (and incorporating it into the price to fish) would discourage freeloading interlopers.
It might even free up a few more parking spaces for fishers ;-)

I called Gulf Shores PD last year and asked about beach fishing and was told if it's a public beach fishing is not allowed. From this I gathered that if you were staying at a condo it would be up to them as to if fishing was allowed or not.
