I'm not sure what type of squid tha is, but damnedest thing I've ever seen made. But, as you point out, seems it wouldn't last long! Thanks for sharing Dave.
. .
O.K. Never caught or saw one of those. Looked similar at the mouth to what I thought a larger squid would look like. Thanks.
I thought it looked amazing. I'm gonna give it a shot maybe this weekend since it'll be so cold. I know that it's not very practical as far as its longevity is concerned but looks fun to make.
It is amazing!
Some sortof origami with a straw LOL
They make it look easy, but I don't have near enough manual dexterity to do that. I flunked cutting out paper hearts for Valentine's back in kiddie school and never got any better. Heck, I have trouble putting the real thing on a hook without mangling it.
It would make a cool decoration for your desk at work. The dude is an artist but I strongly think if he brought that to the pier, he would quickly change over to a jig or gotcha. Just one missed hookup/pass by a good spanish and....poof! 30 minutes of craftsmanship down the drain. Very cool video though, I enjoyed it.
Here is the best way to create shrimp, and it is fun for them too!

I found a video, but I think it is considered shrimp porn, so I can't post it :whip
That video should be accompanied by a warning saying that it's harder than it looks! Didn't have any clear straws so I tried a white one. Not nearly as good as the one in the video but not too bad for me.
Dave, that is a hell of a good job of scherenschnitte ! I know it is not paper ,but I think it qualifies . Thanks for sharing .
Dang good job for your first attempt I take it? It looks good in white.
Picked me up some of the little shrimps at pierlures.com, they also have some sweet Cobia, pomp, and spanish lures...http://www.gulfshorespierfishing.com...tid=3389&stc=1
Actually, only about thirty minutes. After you did it a few times I could see where you would get much faster. I kept having to start and stop the video on my Kindle Fire. I also didn't bother with the colored yarn, eyes or hook. I've tied some homemade shrimp flies just for fun and used heavy mono and burned the ends to replicate the eyes.
I see a Homemade Straw Shrimp Tourney coming soon!
