Swamp kielbasa...
Yes, That right. Swamp kielbasa. Its a thing. Its what happens when you leave your camo and blaze orange next to the woodstove to dry and your Polish girlfriend decides to cook kielbasa with onions and potatoes for lunch- not thinking about the smell of such victuals or how it might adhere to the hunting clothes in close proximity... So here i am, a 6 foot camoflaged kielbasa wearing a blaze orange vest, sitting in the swamp.

Iffin ya hunt with the wind, it shouldn’t be a monumental problem.
I’ve never been scent free enough to be invisible to any deer down wind, haha.
I’ve got a website that I use called USAIRNET.com that has a wind direction component.
It’s actually a website for aviation and used by pilots and parachuters.
You might not believe it, but I’ve actually been sitting in the stand, and had the wind change direction exactly the time it said it would. I have no idea how it does it, but it’s never been wrong. Now I don’t really worry about hanging my stuff out for weeks. It doesn’t matter,...all I do now is not hunt on the days when the wind is wrong for my stand location, and suit up on the days it’s good. Check it out.Last edited by SteveH; 11-19-2019 at 08:42 PM. Since the winds were variable last night it didnt take long before one or two deer ended up downwind and acted very confused. Apparently the smell of a camoflaged swamp kielbasa is both puzzling and alarming. There was a little bit of blowing and snorting followed by a few minutes of running in circles in the field while blowing and snorting and eventually they headed deeper into the swamp.
The wind doesn't always cooperate...
Still not as bad as the time in highschool when a female classmate invited herself along on one of my hunting excursions. She showed up primped and curled and wearing enough perfume to give the makeup counter at JC Pennys a run for their money. A blind man with a stuffy nose could have followed us into the woods that day.Last edited by fordguy; 11-20-2019 at 07:59 AM.

Clearly she misunderstood being "dressed to kill". Or perhaps for what she was hunting it prevented interruption by the unplanned appearance of a deer.

That is interesting, but surely an oversight? The ByWater-Beachside has a Facebook page @ https://www.facebook.com/ByWaterBeachside I asked them what the hours will be after Labor Day...
