    TD #5, storm whatever...

Still a week away from the GoM but it certainly bears watching... :boohoo:

With any luck it won't be around through the day...
    500 AM AST THU AUG 02 2012

THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH THE DEPRESSION HAS GENERALLY
DIMINISHED DURING THE LAST SEVERAL HOURS...WITH DEEP CONVECTION NOW
CONFINED TO THE SOUTH OF THE LOW-LEVEL CENTER. ALTHOUGH DVORAK
T-NUMBERS HAVE DECREASED TO 1.5 AND 1.0 FROM TAFB AND SAB...THE
INITIAL INTENSITY IS HELD AT 30 KT. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE
DEPRESSION COULD DEGENERATE INTO A REMNANT LOW OR TROPICAL WAVE
LATER TODAY IF THE CURRENT WEAKENING TREND CONTINUES
    .
    Let's hope! :headbang:

I still want to launch my kayak in the gulf during a named storm just so I can say I did it.

Define the word during and pinpoint the location of in the gulf of both you and the storm. Then I'll tell you if that is a crazy idea or not. Back in my younger days, one of my brothers and I went body surfing 24 hours ahead of a tropical storm. We were only experiencing tropical depression force winds. It was fun at first, but it got physically taxing quick. After just a few waves we decided that we had enough. Knowing what I from that experience, I wouldn't have done it in the first place.

^^^ During Hurricane Opal, I went to Fairhope Pier and threw my castnet (bag net). First cast, the net didnt reach the water. The wind kept it in the air. 2nd cast I aimed low and hard and caught two mullet. Then I left cause it was a little scary.

[size=12pt][font=comic sans ms]Glad you don’t plan to do something crazy like throwing a net in the bay from a pier; going out in the Gulf in your kayak during a storm has got to be a lot smarter.

Give a googan a king, and he can eat for a day. But teach a googan how to kingfish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years
