Need suggestions on best places to eat seafood, fried, broiled and raw. A good oyster bar that also does fried would be great.
Also, how is ACME OYSTER HOUSE or it a lot of name and hype? Will be staying just east of LL Pass and prefer not to drive too far.
My favorites, in no particular order are.....
Wintzel's
Doc's Oyster Bar
Shipp's Harbor Grill
I've also heard that Fisher's is good. And of course there are the staples....Oyster House, Tacky Jack's, etc....
I'm a really big fan of Fiddlefish. Never had a bad experience there.
The dinner
I have eaten at Fiddlefish when they were on Airport Blvd. in Mobile, but had heard they sorta floundered when they moved to GS. I'm guessing that is not true?
I have eaten there for a couple of years now and as recently as March of this year and it was top notch. I go there every time I'm in OB.

we were down for our spring trip this year with a few non-regulars that came with us insisted on infringing on my pier time and taking us out to eat. They wanted fish so we went to Doc's. Being the family we are, all ordered huge plates of food - and passed them around to share a bit of each. Go to Doc's for lunch...for the non seafood eaters...the fried chicken is exceptional. Also the Dinner by the Gulf Shores Diner is great food period...and VERY reasonable....excellent steaks...
We recently got back from stay in GS, Can't contribute on the oysters.
If you are interested in really good fried shrimp close by with low hype and little wait, S&S Seafood market on W Beach Blvd behind Waves in GS is hard to beat. They sale raw but also cook to order for take out. We got the fried shrimp there a couple times, they were the best we found.
The AYCE crab legs at Docs were really good.
The best steak and fish we had was at Diamond Jim's and Mrs Donna's on Canal.
All th above places are good and I've tried them all. For consistency, when I got out with others, I like the food, atmospher, quality and service with a great salad bar, my money is an Wolf Bay Lodge on Perdido Beach Blvd. in Orange Beach. It's on the water with all the charter boats at Zekes Marina.
If money is no object, I can heartily recommend Louisiana Lagniappe in SanRoc Cay, just west of the Perdido Pass bridge. Expensive, but I have never had anything there that did not rate as exceptional.
Big Fish on Canal Road is outstanding.
Mikees has been our favorite for anything fried (I don't do raw oysters), grilled, or blackened. Best fresh blackened fish ive ever eaten. Menu isn't fancy, but has a good selection and the quality is always very very good.
Any place other than Doc's that y'all would recommend for raw oysters?
Is there any place where you just belly up to the oyster bar , they shuck, you drink and eat, and they also serve steamed by the peck, not a highway price of by the dozen?.

Tin Top in Bon Secour, Shipps Harbor and Cayman Grill in O. B. along with Doc's are hard to beat.
I noticed that Nikki's was in the process of reopening before I left last month.
Desotos is close to you and mikees the steamer....something quick is the shrimp basket. All within a mile or so from you....if you want a good place with about a 25 min or 35 min drive. Try cafe arcadia in silverhill...scrumptious
Fisher's is AMAZING added bonus is it is on the it's right next to Tacky Jacks but SO much better. The Gulf restaurant is next to the sea wall at Perdido Pass is good too. If you go to Fisher's I would recommend the Fish and Grits. If you are at The Gulf I would recommend the Mahi-Mahi fish tacos.
I like Fish River at 59 and 180 good food and reasonable.
Big Daddy's on Fish River is another good off the beaten path place.

If you want raw oysters, Cobalts, under the Perdido Pass bridge is my go to place.
Happy hour gives you a dozen large oysters that are ice cold on a tray of crushed ice for $8. Plus a pint of really cold draft Yuenling beer in a frosted glass for a buck. Great atmosphere too.
