Just bought an 8 lb butt today to make pickle meat out of. I know there ought to be at least two folks on here that know what I use that for.....
Have a green egg on my birthday list. Never heard of the Komodo - looks like the egg - pretty much the same thing?
Yea DD basically the same thing, wife got it for me for our anniversary. After reading the reviews she went with the Komado Joe. I'll admit, I'm totally pleased so far.
Closing in on the 15hr mark, won't be long till breakfast is done.

Looks good. How often did you have to add fuel?
I lit it up yesterday afternoon around 2ish, cooked some corn on the cob and a pork loin. I started the but at about 4:30ish and maintained 220-250 degrees till about 3am and it started falling off. I added some lump charcoal and had plenty enough heat to finish (15-16hrs). When I first started I used about a gallon and a half of charcoal and added maybe a gallon around 3am. Not sure weight wise how much I used but its very little.
Once I got my temp set it pretty much rode where I wanted it. It surprised the hell out of me how little fuel is needed. I'm use to cooking in my coonass microwave, that thing will break your pocket just in fuel.
As far as a recipe, all I used is just some store bought dry rub, and threw in a few applewood chunks every so often. Couldn't have turned out too bad, my baby girl told mommy she doesn't like pancakes (fav food) anymore as she tore up a plate of smoked but for breakfast.
Man Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking good right there!!!!!!!!!!
