So it's that time of the year for me where I build myself a new rod. My primary use for this rod will be throwing spoons, top water plugs and other various lures for striped bass from shore here in NW Arkansas. I currently use a Rainshadow 1027, which also doubles as my x-rap rod in Gulf Shores, but just can't reach some fish. I'm thinking about building a St-Croix 3SRS100MF2 which is a 10ft. My main question is, do you think the 10ft rod will be a nuisance on the pier if I was to bring it and throw a spoon or x-rap? I use a 9ft rod to snobble but never a 10 footer. What are your thoughts? Only reason I'd consider it is due to the fact I'd be able to launch a 2oz spoon and cover more water.
