I want to know when the snapper season is this year, i know they changed it to an 11 day season.
I've heard they are working on extending it actually
I just found out that it opens june 1st and is 11 day.
Starts on June 1st. It is only 11 days, but they are trying to get it changed. Sighting that the research done on the fish populations are done very poorly. We should know something within a few weeks
i think its cuz all them tree hugin ppl that think its bad to kill any and all fish and game species. really makes me mad because without fisherman there would be an overpopulation of fish
Could this be part of the problem (undersized fish caught and sold commercially)
this was recently taken at a Bon Secour seafood market...

I think the problem is that the gubmint doesn't read their own reports. The snapper population/recruitment around here is habitat limited. The population is jammed into the available habitat.
But again, the Feds say that if they let us catch a reasonable amount of fish here in Alabama, then all the Florida fish will swim this way. We keep getting what comes out of the south end of that northbound bull.
EDIT: I would add that, logically, what is happening is that the Feds are using the Alabama Reefs as a nursery to send fish out into neighboring waters.
