About to head to Gardendale how's the weather in Cullman ? Just waiting on the Garbage Man to come.
We had light rain this AM, but nothing since then. Did you have a good trip?
Had a good drive not much traffic and no wrecks to hold up traffic. Just slight drizzle on the way home never did get much rain.
"Marco" was basically a 'rain day'. Waves peaked in the morning at 6' to 8'.
"Laura" is now in the SE GoM and predicted to become a hurricane later today.
And perhaps a major hurricane prior to landfall near the TX/LA line early Thursday am.
Computer models continue to track it well south and west of our area so winds should again not be a problem here besides persistent beach erosion due to easterly winds and high seas.
Swells from "Laura" will reach the Alabama coast before dawn Wednesday and forecast to peak at about 12' around the time of astronomical high tide (around sunrise).
Swell size should slowly decrease through Wednesday night and Thursday as the system tracks farther west and out of our 'swell window'.
Note: 12 foot swells do not usually cause damage to the pier, but that is just below the height that can.
Caveat: there may be a few 'rogue' waves (significantly higher than the average) that could move some of the floor panels, but I would not expect those would be high enough to cause any rail damage...
