Pompano should be running, Spanish may be spotty to good, a few Kings should be in, lots of Cobia watchers will be on the piers.
Yep, could be all the above. Plus blues, whiting, white trout and ground mullet. You just never know what will turn up in Spring.

Ok another question what colors on the cobia jigs, and will I need a wire leader or will I need to use florocarbon or mono????
60lb mono and orange/ or what ever looks good to you..... I hear they would eat a flip flop if feeding.....J&M always had a nice selection
that is what will be on my rod (orange) and another rod chartreuse..... special squid type, for cobia, jacks,or reds
Just saw the first sulphur butterflies this weekend in Lillian. Sure sign cobes are on the way. There was a 35 lber caught last week offshore of Pensacola.
Is that something similar to what I hear up here about the dogwood trees and crappie? I've always heard that when the dogwood trees are blooming the crappie will start biting!
"When the dogwoods are white, the fish will bite". White crappie and largemouth usually move up to spawn in the shallows around brush and stumps on Wheeler lake about that time. Normally that's about the time the lake is brought up to full pool for the summer. This could be a bad year with all the dirty water still around and more rain on the way. I have never seen so many spillways open for this length of time.Quote:

You should catch the tail end of the sheepshead bite on the octi and if not they will move up to the tee and the shallows and still bite. Flounder should start showing up and the pompano bite will be steadier and the average size will be bigger. The Spanish may show up and show out IF you get some warm clear water from the S.E.
Fished the Gulf Shores Pier a couple times last October. Nice pier and people. If you hook into a Cobia can you get it past all those sharks.
