Got to take the wife and kids to the lake today. Weather was beautiful here in Indiana. So after taking my baby girl to church for the annual Easter Egg Hunt we went to the lake. Boat ran great, wife and kids had a blast, and we were blessed with great memories and a cooler full of yellow bass. Awesome Day. Thank You Lord!

What lake were you on in Indiana? Ive been looking for someplace to get in on the spring action on them and if believe I live pretty near you, maybe a county away.
Hardy Lake. We were in 28ft of water fishing just off bottom. Red worms are the bait of choice, minnows good also, some folks like night crawlers, but I think red wigglers are better. Light line and small hook like #6 or #8. You'll need a cooler with ice. The yellow bass swallow the hook a lot and will die in the live well very quickly. As the water warms they will continue to move closer to the bank until the spawn. You can also catch a few blugill, redear, and hybrid stripers fishing the same way. Good luck.
Hey just another FYI: not sure how familiar you are with Yellow Bass.... Using a glove or something when taking them off the hoik is advised. Their fins, spines, and gill plate are like razors. I'm not talking medicine cabinet hurt I'm talking intensive care!!! :-) notice in the picture below my baby girl is not holding the fish! I take them off the hook for my wife and daughters. If these flop out of your hand onto bare skin you will regret it. If you need more info feel free to PM me and we can chat via phone. Keep all you want they multiple like rats. Hardy is getting over populated. You will catch them from 5" to 14". Later I'll post a couple pics from last fall so you know I ain't stretching the truth! You know what they say "No pics...it didn't happen?"

Pretty good groceries if you can catch them big enough to clean. I have served many up at fish fries and you can't tell the difference between yellow bass and bluegill. Give them a try you'll be glad you did.
