VG,I would like a tissue sample from your little brain.Who in their right mind would even consider that fish being caught in 'Ole River ...........??????

Lol, now that we've all had our little laugh at my expense...
The poster said "Ono," which i would assume to be Ono Island connecting to the pass.

Since i have caught kings in the pass and in some areas beyond, i find it plausible they could be caught elsewhere--especially having just been dredged. I haven't personally gotten to fish Ono island due to limited private access, so was hoping he might have caught it near there; but he got it on a boat while snapper fishing, so the theory still can't be tested yet anyhow.
I'm not familiar with "Ole River" that you mentioned unless that is a local term for something else--I'm guessing that's referring to the small stretch of salt water south of the island? I assumed that entire area would be called Bayou st John with Ono just being an island.
Besides, you'd be surprised at how far some species will travel out of their "comfort zone."
I catch Big kings in the fall in pcola bay they even have a torment called king of the bay i wish someday i can catch a 50+lb king :headbang: Thats a nice fish!
My bad, should have looked at the pic better. That dock is on the bay side of Ono.
VG - He said his buddy was "from" Ono, not on Ono. LOL. How would he have landed that fish with that channel marker so close to him anyway?

He also said he used his bathroom scale to measure the weight. I still assumed it was off a boat either way. Ive seen stranger things happen though. You wouldn't believe some of the places I've found tarpon hiding over the years.

Unless you tell me you found tarpon in a Georgia trout stream or a catfish pond in Mississippi, I could envision them in plenty of places. Tarpon and mackerel aren't the same. Besides everyone knows that wahoo and marlin keep kings out of the bays.
