Braid or Mono

Respect is a two way street. Braid is not forbidden on the pier. I choose to use i in the skinny water and expect others to respect my right to use it as I respect their right to not have my line screwing them up. Only time I've had an issue was yesterday when I was catching fish and another group wasn't. They started hot holeing me and they paid for it when a cantakerous 8 lb black drum took a turn up pier and took out 4 of their lines. Not sure it would have been any better if I'd had mono. Oh, well.

ETA - Very nice folks that just didn't know that what they were doing wasn't cool. For my part I give folks that don't seem to know how to control braid a wide berth. Problem avoided is a problem you don't hav to deal with.

Thats an even better reason: Why spend money on braid to use in situations where its not needed???

I put braid on my bass rods one time flipping bushes and still broke prob every 9 out of 10 fish off on the hook set that day. 50 lb power pro. Haven't really cared for braid since then. I don't hate braid but in most cases mono will do the trick.

I like braid. I like the no stretch feature, and if you have your drag set right, hook pulls haven't been a problem for me. Out of respect for those that don't like braid, I try to stay clear of them. I do have trouble with wind knots occasionally though. As far as not being able to see the line, I use either high vis yellow or white and have no trouble. I actually think it is more visible than mono other than the high vis green.
i haven't had any complaints from other fisherman either and prefer its abrasion resistance if I have a run under the pier. Just my two cents worth.

Also braid doesn't break down near as quick as mono, so the cost factor is double sided as well
