Not too mention that they are just as productive, especially if you throw a belly strip on it.

I do like the fact that the H style gives 1/2, 5/8, 3/4 and 1
Spearhead is 1/2, 3/4 and 1

Looney jigs are a lot cheaper than gotchas and a lot safer.

Truth to power my brother. I hate gotchas. Never was a lure better named. Besides their tendency to find flesh, they can wreak havok on the strands in your pier net. Two things I refuse to allow my net to be used for - gaff tops and anything with a gotcha in its mouth.

no real difference I would think....and the 5/8 for the only weight difference I would think to be minimum ....I did like the 3/4oz on windy days a lot better for casting distance and fall rate once in the water....to each there own....the only reason I picked up this other shad head jig....it uses larger hooks for the same weight and has a body for soft plastic.....and not to be tied although still could be with the design of the body at least the one I got
claimer I am not experience jig fisher....so take all this with a grain of salt....I am still learning
for your original question....just don't get the one with the barbed collar....the other is for tying (ball collar) ....also looks to be bigger hooks too....I like the 1/0....less material to hide the hook

The minnow head jigs work fine and you still get the darting action.
Something yall might want to try on the spanish when they're flashing at your jig but not really hitting it is throw it out and let it sink to the bottom. Then reel like heck until the jig is visible, if it gets that far. Let it drop back to the bottom and repeat. There's times when this was the only way I could hook up when they're being finicky.
Which minnow head are you talking about? One of those molds or something else?
The H style head.
Ok thanks. That's the one I'm partial to

that's how they do a clark spoon....and deadly at times
I have seen an older man maybe named Mr. Hollis with a hair ball jig and tear them up when no one else was catching(looked like a looney but maybe with deer hair)....I was fishing right beside him and letting him use my fluorocarbon for leader....it got to the point there really wasn't any hair left....filled the cooler between him and maybe his brother....everyone knew him on the pier(Pensacola)....butthink he might be fishing Navarre now....Ms. Pat had mentioned his name I believe
Anyone ever tried prepared pork rinds instead of belly strips?
