I would like to try Buck tail fishing for flounder. I have watched some videos on this but can't determine what size jig to use. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have a few 3/4oz white ones and some 2"gulp shrimp but it looks like the 2" shrimp is too small for the jig.
These were caught on a 3/8 oz red head jig and a Gulp white swimming mullet in Little Lagoon in the fall Mght need a heavier jig head if you are fishing the surf Can also use a Gulp New penny shrimp Also try a J&M Looney Jig with a cut fresh fish strip ( I like to use Spanish Belly strip ) Caught a lot of flounder this way
We have caught flounder in the surf with jigs, though we have caught more and bigger flounder using jigs in the bays and L. Lagoon. Also might try Carolina rig with bull minnows for flounder. That is a nice mess you caught, DAN.
3/8 - 1/2 would be appropriate.
How about these Bode Also caught in Little Lagoon in the Fall Let's get together and fish some this October when you come down Been wanting to try Veterans Ave but I rode down there and can't see anywhere to park Maybe in October
You will be welcome to park at the place we have rented. I will shoot you a pm. Veterans Rd. is mostly unoccupied in the off seasons. Locals just park at the edge of the pavement when they visit there. Uhh, this thread just became hijacked.

Is anyone catching any flounder in the surf?
Where on the bay side can I fish and have a better chance of catching flounder?
I will start fishing very early and have till about 9 to fish somewhere other than in front of my house. Where would you fish during that time and what would you fish for.
Also I drive a 2wd f350 dully would you say it's safe for me to go down broken rd or is it not a good idea.
I'm glad I found this forum I've spent a lot of time looking through old threads and have gotten tons of great info from yall.

There is good fishing in the bay inside Ft. Morgan, at times. Walking toward the west there has produced good flounder for us. Just don't stay past closing in the Fort parking lot!. They close the gates.
Just curious, what is Al. creel limit for flounder, size and number. A couple of fish in pic seem small.
