A buddy of mine does leather work and I had him make me a custom sheath for my favorite knife. "Perseverando" is the Brooks coat of arms motto meaning "by persevering". And of course I had to have a SNAKE stamped on it. I think it's going to really look good once a little salt water, humidity seeps into the leather and brings out that deep color/patina.
Snake that looks real nice. Is that a Dexter 3576? I have watched several you tube videos using that knife. I have been thinking about ordering one. I assume that you highly recommend it?
yep, that's the one. It is really good on bigger fish/thicker boned fish like sheepshead, reds, even bigger snapper. I need to run it on the 400 grit belt grinder, even though it's carbon steel fish bones have wreaked havoc on it! It doesn't come very sharp to begin with so you'll need to sharpen it.Quote:

When it comes to carbon steel you'll just have to keep up with it for rust.
If you put anything on it you won't want to cut anything you'll be eating unless you really clean it off.
