Anyone know if the Pier rents any closed face rod and reel combos? That's what my kids are used to, open faces are a bit complicated for them at their age.

That's the only thing they rent out.
If you rent some, bring your own terminal tackle. Some 1/4 to 1/2 oz egg sinkers, swivels, 12# line for leaders and some #4 hooks. Rig them carolina rig style. Get some fresh shrimp and fish the shallows for whiting. MIght even catch a redfish or pompano.
[font=comic sans ms][size=12pt]The pier rentals are abused by renters and I have hand lined a lot of pinfish for kids cuz the drag is shot on a lot of rentals. My grandson’s cartoon reel works better.
Just pick up a couple cheapos if you want close face reels, they might have better luck :fishing:
Once again, you guys on this site are the best!
walmart sells one called tiger for 19.99 and my wife used it all summer and landed a ray with it and to my suprise it held up and it is on my pier cart still after 2 yrs. I first did the rental and the next day we bought that tiger rod and reel at wally world.
