Crabbing...
Is it possible to crab off the pier or anywhere else without needing a boat? Was considering giving it a try one day on vacation. If its not viable any seafood markets that have fresh crab at good prices?
Thanks as always.

no wire traps off the pier, just the net types. Most folks I've ever seen crabbing off the pier do it at night. Little lagoon has a lot of crabs milling around but idk if they're still working on the road/bridge, or whatever they do over there.

I'm pretty sure you can catch em at mudbugs….lol

I suspect the Fort Morgan pier would be a great spot. The dock I fished last year was very close by and the owner and his son caught a ton in a couple of hours one night. They used baskets with chicken legs for bait.

There are some things I can show you when we get together Mike.
I think you will do fine at your 'home base' ;-)

Awesome you guys are great. I'm really hoping I have as much fun as I'm expecting so I can make this a yearly pilgrimage.

Since you are going to be here in warm weather you should be aware that there are some pretty nasty germs you can get from handling raw crabs and crab traps. If you get even a tiny nick you should wash it with peroxide or bleach, if you wake up with a nick from the day before that is inflamed, go to a doctor immediately.
I don't mean to scare you, infections are rare, but can be very serious, and you sound like a novice. Bleach or peroxide both work very well.

Yah I dont think I will be crabbing. I have enough anxiety about the sharks, jellyfish, poisonous snakes, alligators haha.
