Current Pier Fishing Reports

Hello from the north! My Aunt and Uncle are down for a couple months and have never fished the pier. My Uncle loves to fish and his Son will be down in a couple weeks...

I've fished it many times and it's been great fun. Many friends from all around have been made and can't wait to get back next year.

I'm asking for some help on what's biting and on what type of a setup. I told them to go to J&M to get rigged up and that they would help with everything.

Whiting bite seems to be on right now. A basic medium 7' spinning outfit with 8-10# line is all you need. Along with some 1/4 - 1 oz weights, swivels and #4 hooks and some shrimp or fishbites.

Carl laid it out for you Kal. That's what the locals call "Carolina Rigging".
Same setup as a "bank rig" or 'fishfinder rig" for catfishing, only much lighter.
In fact you can step it down several notches and use 6# or even 4# outfits.
I like a 12" piece of 10# fluorocarbon as leader on a #6 kahle hook.

When the gulf gets rough and dingy, switch over to those ready-made "Pompano rigs" with two hooks and orange beads or even the brightly colored floats...

The Pic is of My Dad, My Son and I back in 2014-2015... I met so many nice people on the pier from all over... Now many will remember our group... That's my home made cart and all of our gear... Can't wait to see you all next year for Spring Break again!
