sorry about the double thread ....and i dont know how to delete on this forum
If 91 year old Harley Rogers was a member of this forum his answer would be something like" does a duck say quack?" Except for Sunday's, that dude will be fishing"...
I think I'd better try fishing this one. I think I already have a commitment for the next one.
Keep in mind this will be only a partial solar eclipse in Gulf Shores, a little less than 80% of the sun will be obscured at about 1:30 pm for several minutes.
So that means at least 20% of the sun's brightness will still be evident.
A dramatic dimming perhaps, but no where near what will be experienced in the 'path of totality'.
Perhaps this will help us understand what to expect?

My house is DIRECTLY under the center of the path of totality in upstate SC. We got three kegs, three butts, ribs and chicken.
I'll trade places with anyone on the pier....
Funny, our town is like 99.99999% total if not more. It's a circus around here, like you I 'd rather be there.
I wonder if the darkening sky would cause an evening sundown type bite? Kind of wondered about hog hunting and if the beasties would think it was time to get up and eat?
Probably not much more than a passing dense low cloud would partially dim sunlight for a few minutes, but I'll try to let ya know ;-)
Here is the eclipse view from Clemson....
