We were at Cabelas last evening and wife went ahead and got my Christmas gift.
A St. Croix 11' Mojo Spinning Surf Rod, I have a Penn Battle II 6000 reel that I am thinking of mounting on it. Is this too much or not enough reel? Will be fishing soaker bait in the surf, Thank you for your opinions and help.
I think you have a perfect excuse to get a new reel.
Battle II 6000 has a line capacity of 230 yds of 20# mono, plenty to do the job on bull reds from the beach and right in line with the line rating of the rod you just got (15-40# test).
Of course the spool is drilled full o holes, so a Penn Spinfisher V 6500 may be in order for a Christmas present ;-)

I have 3 Battle's and 4 Fierce's with the holes in the spool. Never had any trouble with them. I've seen you mention the holes in the spool in several post, just wondering what the problem was with the holes?
He does't like putting holes in perfectly good fish either (using a gaff) lol
6000 is plenty, it might "look" a little off being on such a big surf rod.
Witler, I got two 9' St. Croix rods with Penn 5500's and they work perfectly for me. Your longer rod for casting distance and to be able to keep it above the breakers should be a great set up.
