Pier fishing
Coming down next week. On the pier, need to know the strength of the line suggested and size of rod desired.

Hard to beat a 7' spinning rod with a 2500-4500 size reel & 10# line.

I'll go along with CarlF, even though I sometimes use 12# mono, or 8# depending on what I'm fishing for. When the king mackerel get here, along with the redfish, an 8' rod with a 5500 to 6500 reel loaded with 15# line will do the trick. Some folks load the reel with 200 yds of 20# braid, then finish it off with the mono. Mono is easier to fish with---easier to see and easier to untangle than braid. Welcome to the forum. Good tip Tom! These two big fellas were screaming like girls when that happened to them last week... LOL
A Spadefish safety tip!
