Thread: Why is the state of alabama fencing off all the fishing spots

They they have the spot under dog river bridge on one side fenced off and Theodore indust canal fence off under rangeline rd in mobile why are they doing this we all ready pay $34 dollars for fishing lic but when you go to them spot you can't fish

Those areas have been blocked off for years. the spot under dog river bridge was probably because of the mountain of beer cans and bottles that was being left there every day. you can cast to the bridge from the pier at the River Shack.

I can understand that some people show do mess up a good thang I went down to the river shack and a guy can and told me I couldn't fish here or park there I even told him ill pay so I left

There was a small pier closer to the bridge that was just for fishing last time I was there but its been a while .

That's just nutz!
That place has been extremely popular since before the River Shack took over the property.

They are pretty strict about their hours and parking, but the folks there have been accomodating to fishermen (until now).

For years now there has been a general 'erosion' of spots that deteriorated and were closed by government and private entities (for a variety of reasons) which have disenfrachised folks from fishing those spots.
Look at some the plethora of shore side fishing spots in Florida for example.
What we need is an organization that speaks for the rights of shore bound anglers that will promote the sport with a single voice and advocate opening and building new access areas and making them safe for the public.

I can't afford a boat right now but that kinda stuff make it hard for people that like to fish if people leaving there trash I wish we had police to make them clean it up I'm try the pier next to the river shack again I hate the state close off this places them was a lot of nice spot and places to teach kids to fish

I called the River Shack and they assured me folks are still welcome to come and fish (for $5).
They open the gate at about 4am and you can fish til close @ 10pm
