Coming down to stay at KOA campground july 14-19 and was wanting to know about the fishing in area I believe it is Lillian Alabama there is a fishing pier at campground but was wondering about other local spots....was really wanting to catch flounder and speckled trout but just wanna catch something....and advice would be appreciated. may even try flounder gigging also is it a good time to go crabbing?

There is a pier and boat launch by the hwy 98 bridge in Lillian. The pier is lighted and has a lighted parking lot as well. I fish there once a week or so and do pretty good with specks, redfish, black drum, mangroves, and flounder. Now there are a lot of catfish also and croaker. Most of my reds there have been caught on small croaker and live shrimp. The specks mostly on DOA shrimp under a popping cork.

Be careful of wading (stingrays). Lots of hardheads, occasional reds, some trout and black drum. Better fishing can be had by driving a little to Perdido pass, about 30 minute drive around the bay. Much better water condition and flow.
When fishing bays at night, remember your insect repellent! Biting insects can be viscious on calm summer nights!

Yes, in my boat! Drifted the edge all the way to Soldier Creek with a northeast wind. Couple of trout, cats, small drum. There are several bowl shaped holes about 300 out along the shore. Most of the bay is around 10 feet deep, these holes average about 13 to fifteen. I have caught flounder out of them. If you were down there a little longer I would take you on the boat. We don't get there until the 25th.
Dang cheesegrits that would be awesome wish you were down ....we are heading down Tuesday. Any other suggestions or what bait do I need to use.
