fishing tips for a non local?

Hello all. I am in same boat as Dustin. Coming over from Texas in July and I like walking the beach or shallow wading and casting early in the morning. Any advice on tackle or lures? I doubt Ill get live bait. Also, does Alabama issue 2 or 3 day temp license?

Light tackle for shallow fishing, you can use a variety of shiny lures casted for the beach, which can result in bluefish, ladyfish, and spanish, if you get lucky you can hook into some bigger species casting from the beach so you might want to bring a surf rod with medium/heavy tackle.

Thanks all. Will probably have 7-1/2' rod, small Calcutta reel, light braid or 20lb test. I have used 1 oz spoons in the green water off coast here and had a few nice days on specs. Red or gold mirrorlure any good over there? Can I do the Saltwater Registry on line?
