All us old folks that don’t have to buy a license anymore still have to register on the Free Saltwater Angler Registration annually and print out a free license to be legal each year.
This sounds like crap why cant I just show my Alabama Driver License as proof of my age.
You could just look at me and see I am a old geezer.
I've been with other geezers who got checked and didn't have a license. All the warden did was tell him he needed to register.
That may change, especially with the new $10 reef fish fee, but that's what happened about three years ago.
EVERY angler who gets put in the saltwater registry means more federal tax dollars for Alabama Marine Resources.
I ask, why would anyone NOT want to do their part to see that Alabama gets our fair share?
Now the $10 Reef Permit is another matter, but folkses over 65 still are required to get one prior to retaining "reef" fish...
Every state I've done saltwater in has this except one or two which combine the two. Usually it is free. It allows fisheries researchers to do random creel success checks by email beyond stopping people as they walk off a headboat or pier. I've never been called BTW.
The geezer with me just doesn't fish saltwater that much and did not know. I'd have told him, but it never occurred to me that he did not know.Quote:
