Hi y'all, I'm down in Dauphin Island this week on vacation and thought I'd try some surf fishing tomorrow since it's newmoon, were ahead of cold front and thought that Ts Colin might even help some, but being from landlocked Oklahoma I'd like to hear what y'all opinion on fishing tomorrow is. :).
p.s plan on fishing around 4:30/5:00 am to about 11:00am then head back around 3:00pm or so weather permitting.

Generally speaking, spring and fall, morning and afternoon, fishing before a front (as opposed to after), and when current is moving(in this case incoming and outgoing tides) the bite is best. Other more experienced saltwater guys can give you more specifics than me. I am a long way from the beach and don't know how the fish are biting now.
IMHO your best option will be the Golf Course beach (east end of Pelican Bay, and EARLY like 5:30 - 6 am).
It is about the only place protected from this southeast ground swell.
Live shrimp under a float (about 4 feet deep) along the color change 'drop-off',
or 3" Gulp shrimp (New Penny or New Penny Fleck) on a 1/4 ounce jighead (cast out far, let sink to the bottom, S-L-O-W-L-Y drag it along the bottom with occasional 'twitch' (for flounder).
Later in the day the swell should decrease and you may be able to fish the gulf beach south of the old Pier (sand locked now).
Use plugs or spoons for speckled trout or fresh dead shrimp on bottom for whiting.
