Hopefully I will get my first chance to fish

We own a condo in GS and I love to fish. I have yet to fish the pier. I have been on it a couple of times watching the fish fly over the rail. This just makes me wanna grab a rod and join in the fun. Well, I think that I may get the chance this weekend to make my first pier fishing trip (either Friday or Saturday morning). I have been following the reports on this forum for a while now and am excited about the opportunity to pier fish and to meet many of you. I'm sure I'll be asking questions and needing help. Who knows, I just may land a big king (without being sharked). I would definitely settle for anything that tugs on my line.

Any pre-trip advice is greatly welcomed.

Best advice for newbies is bring lots of donuts for the regulars. :)

Welcome crbHood Not sure I'll be out there when you are but if I am and you need help let me know I'll be glad to show you what to do and anwser any questions Pull a pier cart with big grey sand tires and have started flying a flag with my id DAN S II on it so you'll see me if I'm there

If you king fish on the end be aware of the rules and courtesies before you get there. Keep your cart-cooler-tackle behind the red line. Wind and current keep baits and fishing lines moving so move along the rail with your bait and line. Move down the rail with your bait and line and go over or under the person next to you to avoid tangles. Don't leave your rod laying on the rail when getting another bait or a drink-it may get in the way of someone fighting a fish. Yield to the person who is fighting a fish-let them under or over you so they don't lose thier fish. That may be the same stranger who gaffs your first king. Being polite and cooperative goes a LONG way with people on this pier. Buy some cigar minnows, or a ribbon rig or sabiki to catch bait.
