Jigging for them can be fun (or BORING)
and fishing a set line for them is ALWAYS BORING ;-)
but I've caught most of mine over the years free drifting or floating medium to small live shrimp.
Only ones I've ever caught were ones that decided to commit suicide. :-/
No leader, just tie straight on to the hook (small treble or #6 Kahle) and use a 2" styrofoam float pinned 4'-6' deep.
April is always my best month, but there are plenty caught in the fall fishing for whiting on bottom and some caught in winter incidental to sheepshead or whiting.
Do what #er said, you can't get much better knowledgeable advice.
Im kind of like DD, I profile the dummy ones. Usually a by-catch while I'm fishing for something else. They will tear up ghost shrimp during early spring.
