Jig Rod

If a man wanted to buy a good rod for casting and working a 1/2 oz. Looney Jig, (mainly for spaniards) reckon what he would need? :confused:

What legnth for an 8 footer is say a built rainshadow xp964

For a jigging/bait rod I'd recommend nothing longer than 7 foot, preferably 6'6" with a fairly short handle.
There are a ton of 'off the shelf' rods that will fit that niche well for around $50.

if you want one built, id look at the #8-15lb line class mudhole value blank, not the mhx blanks, but the value blank, much better in my opinion

I like the ABU/Garcia vendetta 7' for a good all around spanish rod

Nobody else likes 8+ footers ??? Guess I'm a little strange

J&M has a Dawai that is 6'6". Would work perfectly for you. Runs $45 roughly I believe. It is orange and black. Really quick tip with good backbone so you can get great action on the jig.

I like 8'ers, I like them with a super light tip and small butt, I like them for casting really light jigs (3/8 and under) for Spanish and trout, other than that I like 7'-8' king rods and 9' cobia rods

I've had terrible luck with those value blanks every one that i built snapped I've heard better things about the mhx blanks.As far as a jigging rod I love my 7'6" IP903 rainshadow.
