Went fishing in Little Lagoon yesterday afterwork, caught two stingray, three rat reds, a catfish, and this nice trout.
Just anchored at my favorite spot on the east end and using live shrimp and a popping cork. Got a few pics and a quick release.

question... why kayak fishin (in the lagoon) do you have to wear the life jacket?

I always wore mine in a kayak, on a real boat, not so much.

cool thanks Fin, its not like i wouldnt have one, i would wear it out and back but not while fishing if that was allowed. i am a pretty dang good swimmer (i know that doesnt always equal safety on the water though). thanks again for the link!
1. When you need your PFD you will not have time to grab it before you are in the water.
2. Even if you can grab your PFD after you are in the water, it is very hard to put it on once in the water.
3. You really need to stay with your kayak after you are in the water. That's hard to do if you are fooling with your PFD.
Do what you want, but with the lightness of inflatable PFDs, there is no excuse for not wearing it while in the kayak.
it doesnt really say one way or the other depending on how they classify a kayak but i guess it is best to err on the side of safety and lawfulness and wear it all times
bama,gotta have one on board,every instance I have read about a kayakfisherperson being lost (read drowning) same story,,not wearing pfd.I put mine on before launch,,,sometimes they find the boat with the pfd still on board,,and not the person,,Quote:
