I like the uni-knot---I can remember how to tie it.
By the way, with 16# line, try using only four wraps instead of five---works a lot better for me.
I like a polamar knot (I think that is the correct spelling)
I use an improved clinch knot.
The Uni Knot (https://www.netknots.com/fishing_knots/uni-knot/) is my all time all around knot. It has great strength, very secure, and easy to tie (even in the dark) and is reliable. If you need to make a loop knot, just don't cinch it down all the way. For 16 lb. line, I suggest about 4-5 wraps and that'll do! Also, you can learn the double-uni for connecting leader line without a swivel (great for flourocarbon for spanish fishing). Good luck!
P.S. I love that line, had it spooled on my king combo, good stretch (but not too much), low memory, and good cast-ability.
Uni-knot is just about all I use. Cant remember the last time I tied anything else.
Improved clinch knot is about the only one I tie.
To use for what?
Like any 'tool', the right knot is needed for each job...
Tying the line on the spool: Arbor Knot
Tying mono to leader or hook: Trilene Knot
Tying mono to lure (jig): Loop Knot
Tying mono to mono (leader): Double Uni Knot
With just a few basic knots you are ready for most any need ;-)
Hope this helps!
I could just fool around with the line until it got tangled and use the tangle for my knot---they sure as h#ll never come undone.
One of my favorites!
