Line choice

I have acquired a couple of 50LD's I plan to use them for trolling for kings, wahoo, and blackfins mostly. I know there are several former/current boat Captains on here. What would be the best choice for line? I use Ande on my other conventional reels but it seems to be very large diameter(same for Cajun Red) was just wondering what a Captain would use. I use both Trilene Big Game and Power Pro on my spinners.

Back in the day, I always used Big Game on my conventional reels. If I remember correctly a spool of 50# would exactly fill a Penn 113H. Used those for trolling & bottom fishing larger baits.

Thanks Carl, that is what I was thinking, probably fill them with 50 Big Game and see what happens.

Honestly I'd say it won't matter at all for trolling. Castability, abrasion resistance, and visibility are not particularly relevant in this case. Any line of the correct strength class will do. I much prefer mono over braid for trolling but nothing wrong with using a mono topshot over braid if you'd rather.
