Maybe Today?

The last two days I have fished the intercoastal canal,Perdido pass, Bon Secour river, and all over the beaches. Not a single bite. I think God hates me. Two days left.

Gotta keep your worms warm----

Dauphin Island NOAA station shows the surface water temp as 48 this morning...but it's on a slow rise. Keep with it, these are extremely tough conditions to fish the beach in. With it being as sunny as it is today, try around the jetties at Alabama/Florida Points or the seawall with live shrimp if you can find them. The rocks warm up in the sun the same as the bricks on your home do at a faster rate than the seawater and retain that heat. So resident fish will set up shop close to the warm radiating heat of the rocks/concrete like a giant heating pad. I've been spearfishing around the pass in cold weather and can attest that some fish are still in the holes in the rocks, enticing them to bite when the water is in the 40's is the challenge. The cold weather has made it about impossible to source live fiddlers locally this morning-I've already called around.

Hey man, I hope you get to make a trip here in April/May or October/November to enjoy the bounty that can be had then. I detect a real joy of fishing in your posts and would love to fish with you.

Got into the whiting again. They've been my salvation on this trip. Got them just west of the little lagoon pass in Gulf Shores. In the afternoon with better tides it was a fast bite. My last day to fish before heading by to Nebraska.

I am glad you found a whiting bite to close out your trip. I love to get into good whiting and enjoy eating them. I brought home about 50 bags from my November trip and eat them 1 or 2 times a week. I have enjoyed your posts. Drive safely and come back.
