Mid March Fishing Help
I grew up in the area, went to Faulkner St. and moved up north 30 years ago. I fish a lot for steelhead, salmon, walleye, pike, muskie and trout...........but too say that I am a little rusty on my saltwater skills would be putting it politely.
Would like to put my son on a few fish while down there in mid march, What should I target? I remember the sheepshead fishing being good in march and I remember catching specs and a few flounder. What else am I missing?
Also would mid march be too early to sink a crab trap with any realistic chance of getting a few?
Thanks for any help.

Reds, whiting and pompano should be in, as well. Everything depends on the weather, of course.

Try your steelhead/salmon tackle in the surf for whiting & pompano ;-)
Walleye tackle from the pier, maybe a little heavier (12#-20#) for sheepshead.
IF you're lucky the spanish may show up early this year.
There may be some crabs (males) active in the Little Lagoon, but too early for Gulf crabs.
Welcome to the forum, and welcome back to "God's Country".
Hope this helps!
