If you guys had to pick one time to come down for flounder and reds (primarily), and you could either come in mid-October or wait until the week of Thanksgiving, which would it be? We will be hitting the State Pier and wade fishing Little Lagoon.

If you're wading, I'm saying "Mid-October". By Thanksgiving -- The water is pretty cold!
We were planning on wearing our insulated neoprene duck hunting waders. We'll be toasty (unless we fall in).
I would think the flounder will have moved out the passes to head offshore to spawn by thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is getting "iffy" for Little Lagoon. Some years they are still coming out of the pass then but other years they are already gone. Late October and early November is probably a better bet.

I'm agree with you Philip, I'm coming down in mid Oct and hope there is good fishing on the pier.
October is a great time to fish. So many species are moving at that time.
Water temp just got below 80. Needs to break 75 for a meaningful flounder move. Barring a hard cold front,,,Late October this year probably. On a lagoon note...today the pass is almost filled in from the hard easterly winds last week. water in lagoon extremely high and can't really move much. Huge mushroom shaped shallow area on the gulf outlet sided. How shallow??? Gulls, not herons standing around with their knees out of the water this morning!
I'll be coming down in late Oct myself for some kayak fishing. What's the beech crowd usually like this time of year? Thanks
