DO any of y'all know the height and width restriction for the Mobile Tunnel? We will be pulling out boat next year and the size of it is 12' x 9.6' give or take. Trying to find the best and easiest route down there.

I cant find any restrictions, it has a 16' ceiling clearance and I see oversize (wide) loads go through all the time.
That said, I would try to get to the tunnel by 2:30 pm or after 7:00 pm if travelling east bound on Wednesday-Friday during peak summer season.
Traffic during those times is simply atrocious and backs up for at least a mile by 5:00 pm.
My motor coach is 8.4' wide plus mirrors and I have no problem with the I-10 twin tunnels.
Steer clear of the HWY 90 Bankhead Tunnel with a tow; it is two way/two lane with low clearance and narrow lanes.

I called James and he said when they had the Mobile Boat Show he pulled a 39 ft. Nor-Tech and a 38ft. Fountain through with no problems.
We usually come down 49 to I10. Always looking for a quicker way.Quote:

Absolutely DO NOT try to get on I-10 right at the tunnel (as if coming from I-165/US90-business at Water Street). Best to get on I-65 and then connect to I-10. The last ramp onto I-10 before the tunnel is dangerous enough without a tow, and horrible with one - THERE IS NO ACCELERATION LANE it just dumps onto the interstate in the middle of a sharp curve. If you go to I-165/US90 then go over the New Bay Bridge (Alt 90 - hazmat) and avoid the tunnel altogether (this route is marked for hazmats).

Current plan: Leave airport onto 56 to I65 to I10 to 83 to 180. How long of a drive is that?
DO you have any experience with taking 71 out of Alexandria to 190 then that over to I10? My cousin was telling me about that route he said it would shave some time off.Quote:

Taking the Ferry from DI to Fort Morgan might be quicker.
Thanks Carl. Wife booked the flight and I'm sure it was "cheaper" to fly into Mobile as I'm also sure the property owner told her it was easier to fly into Pcola. We'll be getting in early afternoon on Saturday. I'm hoping the Mobile traffic won't be too bad with the weekend. I hadn't considered the Ferry but will give that a look.Quote:

I sure do. Taking 71 out of Alexandria, wont shave much time. Stay on I-49 to US 190 in Opelousus then get on 190, this saves about 15 miles. You have an option on getting to I-10, either LA 415 west of the Mississippi river or I-110 in Baton Rouge. The I-10 bridge is a fricking nightmare from 3:30 to 6:00pm, I go into BR and take I-110 almost every time.Quote:
