The pier powers are considering putting cleaning stations out on or near the octi. Luckily, Lisa was around to question the wisdom of such a move because it might draw even more sharks than we have to endure now. If you have an opinion on the matter, it would be a good idea to let the pier people know it while it is temporarily on hold.
They are also planning to put in disposal pipes. Hooray!!!

how would the disposal tubes work?
The tubes would run from somewhere above the deck to several feet below the water surface. The disposal tubes would get the carcases away from the surface and out of reach to pelicans or other surface feeding birds. It would just be a partial fix to the problems associated with carcase disposal. Now if someone could rinse the tubes frequently with some sort of shark repellent that would only make sharks feel unwanted, then that would be a complete or at least near complete solution.
It would be just like the old pier. People could clean their fish in a timely manner rather than leaving them on the deck to become jerky
