Re: The next generation...
Congratulations David. I know you must be proud. I have to say, he has one of, if not the, most knowledgable fisherman in the area. Maybe he will follow in your footsteps.
Re: The next generation...
What a great day! My 2 year old grandson is with us this week. He "vanished" for a minute and came back with two of my fishing rods in his hands and a big, big smile.
I figure that means he's a natural. :)
It was great taking my kids fishing....but grandkids are off the chart for some reason.
Re: The next generation...
Great post David, he'll be hounding you now to go again. And that's a very good reason to fish even more. His smile says it all!
I'm excited to get my lil one out fishing.
Thanks to the Gulf Coast and all you Bama locals/natives for sharing this great place with me and my family. It's a real blessing to live down here on the Bama gulf coast.
Re: The next generation...
Awsome post. Nothing like taking a kid fishing. And David you are one of the best. I certainly learned a lot from you growing up on the pier.
Re: The next generation...
Awesome! My little ones have a hard time standing still long enough to catch anything, though my seven year old surprised us all by reeling up a blue fish at the point before the line (no leader, I was hoping for a pin fish :o).
Re: The next generation...
very nice !!! that is what it's all about....they need to like it, and not be forced....and seems he has that competitive spirit in him too, out fishing gran paw....nothing wrong with that....thanks for sharing :headbang:
I always plan to take breaks at the beach with the grand kids, for a little play time.... in between fishing(especially when it's slow) but the last few hours of day light when the fish turn on and we start catching they want to stay and NOT quit..... till they slow :yay:
Re: The next generation...
Thanks all!
Yep, he DEFINITELY has that 'smak talk' in a big way.
When we play 'Go Fish' or 'Old Maid' he prefaces the card dealing with
"Gawkaw, you are goin down. Down to the ground. Down to the bottom of the sea!" ??? ;) :D
I figure it ain't braggin when he 'walks the walk' though ;-) :headbang:
:fishing:

This has got to be our best thread yet David; great story and pictures to cherish forever!
However, there is something he desperately needs; a hat just like yours!

Awe, I couldn't do that to him. ::)
Don't be 'hatin' on his Bama cap ;) LOL! :poke1:
Re: The next generation...
Great post!! I am training up my 3 kiddos too!
Re: The next generation...
Well o'le friend, sometimes these little hurdles in life we go through work out in a good way.The year of the spill I was able to spend a ton of time with my kids because I was not needed here as much.Just wish we could have fished a little more....Congrats on the day.
Re: The next generation...
Great post #r. Love the pics even if his hat has the wrong colors! I hope I can get mine interested when he gets about that age. He's too much into Thomas the Train and airplanes right now.
Re: The next generation...
Greatest times I ever had with my kids were fishing. I hope he grows up to love the sport like you and then he will pass it on to his children. Someone once said the best thing you can do is to take a child fishing.
